Silver Millennium: Reading Group

  • Glasgow Zine Library 636 Cathcart Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8AA United Kingdom (map)

ミ☆ Speculative fiction has often mirrored colonial and patriarchal views found within Western science and history. Silver Millennium is a series of events that aims to think beyond this, focusing on and around speculative fiction as a site of radical potential.

Through three reading groups we will discuss topics like climate activism, anti-capitalism, decoloniality and gender. The series will then culminate in a writing workshop where we’ll think about how we can turn past discussions into ink on paper. You are warmly welcome to attend one or as many as you like. ☆ミ

——————————————————————————————

Please note, while the reading group sessions are open to everyone, they will centre upon and prioritise the experiences of people of colour (poc). Please be mindful of the space you take up i.e. consider how long you’ve been talking for, choice of words, body language etc. Class reductionists and brocialists are not welcome.

The writing workshop is only open to poc and will prioritise poc who identify as one or more of the following: working class; disabled; non-binary; transgender; women and/or; queer.

Unfortunately Glasgow Zine Library does not currently have a wheelchair accessible bathroom.
