BFFS: The Radical Potential of Female Friendship

  • Glasgow Zine Library 636 Cathcart Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8AA United Kingdom (map)

This event will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library.

Friendships can be the foundation of our earliest memories and most formative moments. But why are they often seen as secondary to romantic, or familial connection, something to age out of and take a back seat to other relationships? In this talk, Anahit Behrooz, the author of BFFs: The Radical Potential of Female Friendship, chats with author and editor Heather Parry about cultural depictions of female friendship - from Booksmart to Elena Ferrante to Insecure - and the importance of reimagining female intimacy and desire.

TW: The book touches on themes of sexual and gendered violence, abortion, suicide, and racism, which may come up in the event.
