In this workshop, we will take time to slowly wander, rest, spend time with and collectively learn from and with the plants and non-human kin who live in the Woodlands Community Garden. We will share knowledge about the plants that we meet, their herbal properties, histories and the abundance of stories that they hold.
We will also take time to creatively respond to the environment, writing down our thoughts, feelings and responses to the natural world as we go. Moving with a gentle pace, we will all try to slow down to tune into our senses, to observe and to notice. We will practise 'journalling' together, as a method of recording and building our relationships with nature.

About the facilitator:
Maymana Arefin (she/they) is a nature guide, writer, artist and community gardener based in south London. Her work focuses on deep rest and healing, tending to land and soil, and restoring our communion with non-human kin. In 2020, Maymana founded @fungi.futures, a space to map radical alternative futures guided by fungi. Her award-winning masters' research imagines how mycelial networks may be used as a metaphor for mutual aid.
Access information for this event:
There will be 15 attendees maximum, and the event will feature comfort breaks. During this event, attendees will participate in: whole group discussions, hands-on activities, writing, sharing work that has been created in the workshop, sound/music, movement.

The Meeting Room is fully wheelchair accessible. The path from the main entrance on Ashley St has three steps, but there is a side entrance (gate) reached via the Lane that is ramped and fully accessible. If you require disabled access we recommend getting in touch with us in advance so that we can make sure that the event organiser knows to open up the side entrance. The inside of the building is all on one level and has a wheelchair accessible toilet.
Terrace is accessed via a staircase. There is a platform lift so that the site is accessible for people with mobility issues.
Community Garden/Millenium Park is partially wheelchair accessible
