Covid Safety at GZL

As part of our ongoing commitment to make Glasgow Zine Library an accessible venue we are working to reintroduce Covid safety measures at the Library. 

We recognise that the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing and want to ensure the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff. 

Multiple studies have shown that masking, ventilation, and filtration are the most effective tools for breaking the chains of transmission and protecting our communities' health. On this page, you can find a breakdown of how GZL implements these tools.

During opening hours:

  • We will have our air purifier (Philips 3000i Series AC3033/30 Connected) running at all times during our opening hours.

  • Staff and volunteers will put on a mask when they see visitors entering wearing a mask, or if visitors put on a mask during their visit.

  • The types of masks available are: 3M Aura 1863+ FFP3 Type IIR Unvalved Respirator Face Masks. Masks will be in a visible location near the front door.

  • During warmer months the windows and/or door will be opened.

  • Surfaces, including door handles, countertops, tabletops and access rails, as well as toys, and stim toys will be wiped down before each day.

Masking Days: 

  • As of 2025, the first Saturday of every month will be a fully masked day at GZL. We ask that if you’re visiting the Library please have your mask on before you enter. If your mask is lower grade than FFP2 or FFP3, we will offer you a free replacement to wear during your time at the library.

  • You do not have to wear a mask if you are medically exempt from masking.

  • People who refuse to mask will be asked to leave and given details of when the library is next open.

  • If you are experiencing symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, or a cough we would request that you do not visit the library.

  • Staff and volunteers will be masked in the space before we open, and our masks will remain on all day.

  • We understand that masking may present a barrier for many people. If you are unable to wear a mask for any reason, but still wish to attend a masking day please email us at hello@glasgowzinelibrary.com and we will work together to find the best possible solution.

During events:

  • When you are booking a ticket through eventbrite there will be an option at the checkout asking if you would prefer people to wear masks at the event. If masks are requested we will alert the event leader(s) and send out an email to participants requesting that people wear a mask when they attend. 

  • We can provide masks for people without one. The masks available are 3M Aura 1863+ FFP3 Type IIR Unvalved Respirator Face Masks.
