Please note: this event will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library.
This informal workshop will introduce participants to the technique of bundle dyeing with plant material. We'll start the workshop with a walk to forage for colour, and Kate will provide some dried dye plants as well. We'll make bundles with plants and fabric, and steam them until the plants release colour in to the fabric. This is a fun and experimental process that creates beautiful, dramatic and often unexpected results.

About Kate:
Kate Temple is a visual artist living near Edinburgh, working with installation, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, painting and performance. Kate is interested in cross-disciplinary and socially engaged practices and frequently works in collaboration with other artists and non-artists. Drawing and collecting are regular elements of Kate’s practice. Since lockdown she’s been working with plant material foraged from near her home. She’s been making her own ‘living’ inks; oak gall, acorn cap, elderberry, bramble, rosehip, sloe, gorse, nettle, tulip petal, copper and iron.

This event is suitable for ages 16+. There will be 8 attendees maximum, and the event will feature comfort breaks. During this event, participants will be involved in: hands on activities, sharing work that has been created during the workshop.
This event will take place at the GZL space on Cathcart Road in Govanhill. The walking portion can be planned with any access/mobility requirements of the participants in mind. There is step-free access to the library and is wheelchair accessible. There is a public toilet but unfortunately the toilet is not fully accessible at this time. The library space also provides tea, coffee, a variety of lighting options and comfort provisions like soft seating, blankets and space heaters.
We will provide hand sanitiser and ask that everyone maintains at least a 1m social distance from other visitors.
We want you to have a safe and enjoyable time! During your visit, we ask you to:
-Please keep your distance from others
-Use the hand sanitiser provided.
-Wear a face covering if you're over the age of 5
-Please do not visit the library if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus.
-If you are able to please take a Rapid Lateral Flow test before attending.
When you visit the library we will ask that you scan a QR code to check in with NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect and we may share this information with the service up to 21 days following your visit.
Please be mindful of the restrictions in place for your local area and adhere to Scottish Government guidelines.

We are more able to meet requests made at least two weeks in advance. Events may be recorded for access reasons, and we will inform participants if this is going to happen in advance.
