Part of GZL’s Mythologies for a Future Scotland programme
What makes a good superhero and how do you design one? How do they reflect their environment and their times?Join Etienne Kubwabo (Beats of War), designer of the first black Scottish superhero, for a workshop all about designing your own superhero. In this workshop you will learn how to develop a character, their backstories, a character’s look, powers and storyline. Participants will draw on pre-existing characters and portrayals in modern media, to learn how to get inspiration from their imagination and their environment. This workshop is suitable for artists, writers, comic-book fans, and all interested people.
This event will run alongside a new paid zine commission from Glasgow Zine Library, where we will be seeking someone to respond to the theme “Mythologies for a Future Scotland”. Details of how to apply for this will be available on our website and social media soon.
Unsure what to pay for Pay-What-You-Can events? Find our guide here.
