“If nature is unjust, change nature!” – Laboria Cuboniks
Un/Nature is a queer ecologies reading group, plucking texts from zines, philosophy, critical theory and poetry.
Email unnaturalreader@gmail.com to book a place and receive pdf and audio versions of the month’s reading.
Delve into a universe of gay plants and sapphic seagulls, monstrous mushrooms and bent binaries.
Centering queer, feminist, indigenous and decolonial perspectives, we reimagine nature as promiscuous, entangled, co-operative, wilful and revolutionary.
This month, we are focusing on queer ecological perspectives on Palestine.
The readings are:
From the River to the Sea Israel, Palestine, and Queer/Feminist Ecologies by Mitch Goldsmith
Symposium for the Palestinian/Queer Body by George Abraham
Fuck Your Lecture on Craft, My People Are Dying by Noor Hindi
Un/Nature will take the form of a relaxed discussion with some optional reading aloud.
All welcome, whether you’re a fungi friend, tree hugger or feel estranged from any idea of ‘nature’. No prior knowledge of queer ecology is required, just a curious mind and body.
Let us know if you have any access requests or suggestions for future reading. If requested by an attendee, we will ask the group to remain masked.
Please note: this event will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library as part of the Community Led programme. The Community Led programme supports and platforms events run independently by community groups who use Glasgow Zine Library as a meeting place.
