Interactive Zines with Electric Zine Maker

  • Glasgow Zine Library 32-34 Albert Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8DN United Kingdom (map)

Part of our Skills for Zine-Making programme.

You're invited to GZL for a round of magic and digital zine making.

Our theme will be centred around a new beginning and community, since GZL recently moved into their new space. We'll collect images and text that we want to work with beforehand, so that we come into the space with material ready to work with.

Our focus will be on using indie software Electric Zine Machine* to make our zine, and then using the related hack** to turn it into an interactive online zine. As an independently developed software, EZM honors zine culture with the glitches and glam that diy making is known for. We'll work through the code slowly, so that everyone leaves with a finished online zine.

Folks will be expected to bring their own laptops, since we will be downloading software and uploading code. Headphones are encouraged. Please collect images, texts and drawings on a folder on your computer around the theme of 'new beginnings' and 'intentions'. It's important you do this beforehand, otherwise it will take up a significant amount of time from the tech portion.

This is intentionally a 3 hour workshop, so we can take our time with technology and art in a community space. No experience required, but patience, curiosity and an interest in tech-based things would be helpful. Come with kindness <3
