Secrets of DIY Animation (3 week course)

Please note: this is a 3 week course and the ticket prices include the full 3 sessions. It will take place in person at Glasgow Zine Library.

A hands-on introduction to DIY animation! In this three-part series we’ll explore animation techniques, tricks, and history, with a focus on independent and experimental approaches. Over the 3 weeks you will be introduced to different animation styles and interesting animators, learn some stop-motion and 2D animation techniques, and learn editing basics. No previous experience necessary, this workshop will set you up to keep exploring.

Week 1: Tuesday 12th March, 6:30 - 9pm

Week 2: Tuesday 19th March, 6:30 - 9pm

Week 3: Tuesday 2nd April, 6:30 - 9pm

About the facilitator:

L.T.Leif (b.1986) is a Glasgow-based artist and musician. They are from Calgary, Canada, where they worked for several years as the Programming Director of The Quickdraw Animation Society and GIRAF International Animation Festival, supporting the creation and presentation of independent and experimental animation. Their music is released on Lost Map Records and OK Pal, where they also present visual work. They hold an MA in Visual Culture, Curation and Contemporary Art from Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland.

Ticket information

This event is for ages 18+ and will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library.

There will be a maximum of 10 participants. During the event participants will be involved in: whole group discussions, hands-on activities, sharing work that has been created on the course, film clips, visual presentations, eating/drinking.

This event will take place at the GZL space on Albert Road in Govanhill.

You may be asked to wear a mask at this event.
