Collectivising our Struggles in the face of Fascism and the Cost of Living Crisis: Learning from the MayDay Rooms Archive

  • Glasgow Zine Library 32-34 Albert Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8DN United Kingdom (map)

Please note: this event will be held in person.

When meeting our basic material needs takes up so much of our time and energy, we have less to give towards resisting the structures that cause this in the first place. We hold this tension of living in structures that produce feelings of depletion and suffering while being acutely aware that resisting them is a necessary path to living better.

Strengthening practices of solidarity, collective care and cultural experimentation can not only be agents of revolutionary change but also have a profound impact on our wellbeing and ability to keep going. Past struggles show us how to build new ways to relate to each other and collectivise our struggles.

In this session, we will dig into MayDay Rooms Archives to explore direct action tactics, consciousness raising groups and local street-level campaigns against the cost of living, wage relations and fascism. We will then open up the space for discussion and imagining - you are invited to create a collective mini-pamphlet with your ideas if you wish to.

Between 3-6pm on Friday 23rd the Library will also feature a pop-up from MayDay Rooms Archives, with material specifically looking at campaigns against the cost of living, wage relations and fascism.  Come by to take a look at part of this amazing collection that’s made it way up from London!
