Collage and Conversation: Who am I in ‘Multicultural Britain’?

  • Glasgow Zine Library 32-34 Albert Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8DN United Kingdom (map)

Please note: this event is for Black people and people of colour / people of global majority and will be held in person.

The recent wave of fascist riots has been a stark reminder that we will always be seen as outsiders by those who consider themselves native to the land. For many of us, this has called into question where we belong and whether there is a future for us here in Britain.

In this collage and conversation event with activist and pluralistic therapist Loa Pour Mirza, we will use collage-making to respond to this moment, giving us space to process and share our thoughts and feelings about being in Britain, and what this means in relation to our histories, heritage and identities.

This workshop will be one out of a series of three where we will be exploring topics and themes in relation to race and racism, culture, identity and resistance in the face of fascism. There will be space for discussion, reflection and creative responses to prompts.

The event will be two hours but there will be 15 minutes at the beginning and end of the session for optional grounding practices and decompressing.

CW: Race/Racism/Racial Violence, Right Wing Riots, Colonialism/Neocolonialism

Upcoming dates:
15th October - Resistance in the face of fascism
15th November - Dreaming alternative worlds
