Please note: this event will take place in person.
London-based art practitioner and youth worker Meera Shakti Osborne shares zines and audio from the DUH archive along with zines from Glasgow Zine Library, exploring DIY ways of recording history. We will also make our own zines about something we want recorded in history that might otherwise go unrecorded.
This is part of a two part series with Meera Shakti Osborne around archiving unruly histories. You can check out the associated talk here.
This event is open to all but we particularly welcome BPOC and queer people as the duh archive reflects these identities.
Unsure what to pay for Pay-What-You-Can events? Find our guide here.
Please note: we can only issue refunds requested 72 hours before the workshop begins.
About Meera:
Meera Shakti Osborne is an art practitioner and youth worker from London. Osborne’s work focuses on collective healing through creative self-expression. Their practice engages with accessibility and confidence-building in both formal education settings and casual encounters. In recent years, Osborne has focused on questions around history-making, the ethics of collaboration and processes that allow for flexing, glitches and love.
About DUH:
department of Unruly histories (DUH) is an audio visual art project run by Meera Shakti Osborne. DUH's intention is to build a historical archive of people's unique and often-untold stories in London. DUH is a multi-part series, working with a range of diasporic communities and individuals across London. Participants choose which histories they would like to record, and together we have been creating sound pieces and visual publications which range from conversational to experimental.Archives are, by their nature, unruly–a quality that DUH encourages throughout the process.
