These sessions will take place online in 2 parts. We encourage you to attend both sessions.
Did you know that anybody can make a video game in 2 hours?
Artist Fredde Lanka invites you to this 2 part online workshop where you will learn how you can become a video game zinester using a free open source software called TWINE.
The workshop is inspired by the writings of queer video game designer Anna Anthropy, and all tasks have been designed for people who have never coded before and/or people who are interested in starting to develop a practice in indie game design.
Part 1: Introduction to Video Game Zines & TWINE (Wednesday 7th May, 6:30-8:30pm)
Part 2: Gameplay mechanics in TWINE (Wednesday 14th May, 6:30-8:30pm)
Come along and let’s make some weird games together!
CW: In the workshop there will be references to gun violence within the context of video games as well as transphobia, queerness and end of the world.
Unsure what to pay for Pay-What-You-Can events? Find our guide here.
Please note: we can only issue refunds requested 72 hours before the workshop begins.
About Fredde:
Fredde Lanka is a gay Swedish proto-bear illustrating smutty, silly comics for the queer gamer generation who don’t read Foucault. A university lecturer and youth worker with his own queer art school in London (Queer Youth Art Collective), Christian moms have warned that Lanka is teaching the children an ‘asses up lifestyle’.
Since lockdown in 2020, Fred has developed an interest in DIY gaming culture and has been making short game zines ever since.
