ROLL FOR INITIATIVE: Decolonisation & RPGs (2-part workshop)

  • Woodlands Community Meeting Room 66 Ashley Street Glasgow, Scotland, G3 6HW United Kingdom (map)

Please note: this is a two part workshop and the ticket prices include the full 2 sessions.

Part of our RPGs for Building Alternative Futures programme.

Group workshops on role-playing games, and their relationship to colonialist narratives of conflict, domination, destruction - but also community, activism and collective power. How could table-top games be used to introduce players to decolonialist ideas? What would a decolonialist role-playing game look like? Can we imagine a world beyond dungeons, dragons, and despots?

The first workshop will examine how traditional storytelling and role play perpetuates individualist power fantasies. The second workshop will harness the collective imagination of the group to find more progressive alternatives.
