Designing a Role-playing Game: narrative and mechanics

This event will be held online.

This workshop follows on from a successful workshop last year on "RPG design: setting and niche". In our workshop, Laurie O'Connel will take participants through some of the basics of game design. We'll go through some popular games and analyse how they work, talk about making mechanics that fit your vision, and how to write a game that works in theory and in practice.

We'll focus specifically in this workshop on character creation, skill checks, and writing mechanics which help drive a story forward.

There will be a second part of this workshop around Publishing a Role-playing Game on May 23rd 7-9pm.
