KNOT JUST HAIR: Zine Launch

  • Glasgow Zine Library 32-34 Albert Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8DN United Kingdom (map)

Please note: this event will be held in person.

Join us for the launch of KNOT JUST HAIR, a zine by Lizzie Edoh Eidson.

As someone who's of mixed ethnicity, my relationship with my hair has been shaped by the complexities of my heritage and the worlds I navigate. In this zine, I’ll be diving into the significance of Afro hair throughout history, with a particular focus on the art of braiding and protective styles. These styles are more than just fashion choices—they're expressions of culture, identity, and resilience. Through print, written word and a collection of expressive research, KNOT JUST HAIR explores the art that is Black hair and protective styling from a personal perspective as someone who is learning the skill of braiding.

The launch is BYOB and will feature an exhibit of original prints and memorabilia featured within the zine and a short braiding demo from award winning Glasgow-based hair educator SOOPRECIOUS. Zines will available to buy on the night.

This zine was commissioned by Glasgow Zine Library for Black History Month 2024 as part of our Made to Last: Connecting Communities Through Collection programme, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
