Please note: this event will take place online.
Join Mel Grant and Nicola Cook from Wellcome Collection, London, to hear about their growing zine collection broadly themed around health, and new display Zines Forever! DIY Publications and Disability Justice, which runs until 14 September.
Hear a short history of zines at Wellcome Collection followed by an introduction to the themes and content of Zines Forever! The display is curated by Dr Lea Cooper and draws on their doctoral research on health activism and zines at Wellcome Collection. The display explores how the making and sharing of zines can further disability activism and political resistance, and serve as a vehicle for community building and mutual support. Mel and Nicola will take you on a virtual tour of some of the display highlights, including recently acquired works to the collection like Rachel Rowan Olive’s beautiful watercolours that make up their zine Believing.
Informal discussion encouraged after the talk!
