Writing Waterways: Osmosis Press Triple Book Launch

  • Glasgow Zine Library 32-34 Albert Road Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8DN United Kingdom (map)

This event will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library.

The event will celebrate the Scottish launch of three publications by Osmosis Press authors: Jac Common's wetbulb, David Gaffney's Whale, and Saskia McCracken's Common Name. Each writer will read from their work: stories of a Cumbrian beached whale, the poetics of life on London's canals, and prose poems on the secret lives of seaweeds. Guest readers, also from Osmosis Press, include Carolyn Hashimmoto and Maria Sledmere.

The event's themes and topics: experimental writing, poetry, prose, waterways, marine life, the politics of taxonomy, animal rights, art and artifice.

Participants can expect an evening of poetry, prose and experimental writing, a Q&A with the authors, and a selection of indie press publications available to browse or purchase. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Participants will gain an understanding of contemporary indie writing and hopefully enjoy the readings!

About Osmosis Press:

Osmosis Press was established in early 2021 with an aim to muddy the boundaries between categories and forms of contemporary writing practice. We publish work that resists the definition of poetry, novel, short story, non-fiction, memoir, and everything in-between. We publish poetry that does not map onto the expectations of what poetry can be. We publish fiction that reconsiders the possibilities of prose – or resists prose entirely. We believe non-fiction can take any form. We are based in the United Kingdom between Surrey and Glasgow.
